The Arts and Culture Foundation of Cochrane (ACFC) will be hosting their annual general meeting at the Cochrane RancheHouse (second floor) on Nov. 27 from 6-9 p.m. this year.
With a goal to elect a new board of directors, current president and arts centre liaison, Brian Fitzgerald, said some of the current directors, who have served on the board since ACFC’s 2008 inception, would be stepping down.
“Over the past year, the board of the ACFC has organized three major events in Cochrane, including last December’s Christmas Art Sale, the Mountain Shadow Music Festival and this fall’s Cochrane Arts Festival, as part of Alberta Culture Days,” explained Fitzgerald.
“…To continue its mission to promote the arts and to act as an advocate for the local arts community, new volunteers are needed – particularly on the board of the ACFC.”
Fitzgerald said there is always a need for volunteers to help organize events and build on Cochrane’s artistic vibrancy.
“We also need people interested in working on special projects such as the building of a community arts and culture centre…the exact nature of ACFC activities for 2014 will be determined by the incoming board of directors with input and support from all our members.”
The ACFC are hopeful that the coming year will see a site selection for the future arts and culture centre – a project that will continue to be championed by the group, but will require great efforts from various stakeholders, once site selection has taken place.
