‘Tis the season, as they say, and the Cochrane Activettes have been making the most of it. Their ‘Share Your Christmas’ campaign kicks into high gear as the holiday countdown dwindles down.

The Activettes have been kept plenty busy, thanks in part to a donation challenge spearheaded by Cochrane Toyota, which has collected $3,050 for the nonprofit organization to date.

“This time of year, we come together as a staff to give the gift that keeps on giving,” said dealership owner Alex Baum. “I thought I’d issue the challenge to the community to do the same.”

Accepting the challenge was Kingsmith Homes, Motor Dealers’ Association of Alberta and Toyota Dealers Advertising Association.

“It always amazes me how much this town has to give,” said Karen Kingsmith, treasurer for the Activettes and owner of Kingsmith Homes. “This money goes towards food, bread, gifts, turkey and meat trays, and IGA gift cards. This way, we can fill our hampers with the trimmings for a Christmas dinner.”

Last year, the food bank gave away 121 hampers, she said.

The day proved to be busy for the local not-for-profit group, who also received a $5,000 donation from the Bearspaw Lions Club.
