The Cochrane Community Awards will be held this weekend, and CBC News Calgary television host Carla Beynon will host the celebration, honouring those who help make Cochrane the place it is.
Event organizer Rebecka Torn said the ceremony, which will be held at the Cochrane RancheHouse May 26, is a popular occasion that sells out every year.
Thirty-two nominees were announced at the beginning of May, with individuals, businesses and schools making up the group of prospective award winners.
Award categories include Employer of the Year, Newsmaker of the Year and the year’s highest honour, Mayor and Council’s Order of Cochrane, which last year went to Gordon Davies, president of the Cochrane Historical Archival Preservation Society. The ceremony runs from 2-4 p.m.
