Organizers of the 39th annual Bragg Creek Artisans Christmas sale say the event offers something different compared to other Christmas sales. The sale goes Nov. 14-15 at Bragg Creek Centre.

Different from a regular community sale, organizers say.

Bragg Creek Artisans feel their 39th-annual Christmas sale offers something out of the ordinary.

“Our Christmas sale is a joining of all the friendships – everything is handmade at the sale and it is only members,” said Pamela Rogers, Bragg Creek Artisan. “We have evolved over the years and we set it up and decorate the hall in a beautiful country Christmas theme. And all the artists are very approachable.”

The annual sale features 65 vendors this year with everything from stone carvings, pottery, refurbished antique furniture, metal sculptures, paintings and jewelry.

“Most of us are very established artists and have done it as a career – so we put a very high quality in terms of what we are going to show and sell. We do not let anything that was commercially manufactured into our show,” Rodgers said.

Organizers say the sale has a nice home feeling and will also include a dining area that mimics a country pantry with soup, bread, pastries and a variety of other homemade cooking.

The sale also hosts a section called the General Store, a space for artisans who do not have enough to fill a table to sell their homemade creations.

Organizers ask for a donation at the door but assure guests that the money is going back into the community. This year, the funds from donations will be donated back to the Health Services Foundation, specifically for a program that helps seniors.

“When you come to the sale it is different from just any community sale,” Rodgers said.

The annual sale stems from the original Bragg Creek artisan group that formed in the late 1970s.

“There has always been this creative seed that lives in and around Bragg Creek – it seems to attract these incredibly creative people,” Rodgers said.

“We are unique and each year we evolve further and further.”

The annual Bragg Creek Artisan Christmas sale goes Nov. 14-15 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Bragg Creek Centre.
