The Bragg Creek Community Centre is hosting a throwback night out, taking guests back to ’50s on Nov 6.

“We are really excited – it’s the week after Halloween so the parents get a chance to dress up and do something for themselves with other adults,” said Shaye Radford, Bragg Creek Community Centre program director.

The Throwback party will be serving drinks and appetizers with live music to follow. Organizers booked the band The Beverly Thrill Billies.

“It’s a really great live band – they do all the classic fifties rock and roll songs that everyone knows and can sing to,” Radford said.

What inspired organizers to throw a ’50s-themed night out?

After hosting a Beetles Tribute party last year, organizers said they received such a great response they decided to host another throwback-themed event.

“There will be poodle skirts and greaser hair and rolled-up jeans – it’ll just be a fun, relaxed night for the adults to come and dance and remember the classics and eat some good food,” Radford said.

“At all our community events we do very affordable drinks as well – it’ll be $5 drinks for everyone.”

There will be prizes for best-dressed attendees and a 50/50 draw.

All profits go back into the community to support the community centre’s programs.

Ticket sales are open with $25 for members and $30 for non-members, with discounts for groups.

On Nov. 6, the night starts at 7 p.m. with drinks and appetizers with the band on stage at 8 p.m. at the Bragg Creek Community Centre.
