A Bragg Creek pharmacist was “shaken” after a masked male came in with a knife asking her to empty the safe April 5. It was the community’s first armed robbery in three years.
“I was in aisle two when I heard the door open and he walked up to the counter, I didn’t see he was masked,” explained Bethany Suitor, 24, Bragg Creek Pharmacy employee.
“Then the pharmacist started to call me over.”
The robber entered the store with a knife around noon and walked behind the counter and asked the pharmacist to empty the narcotics safe.
“I told her ‘we are not getting stabbed today,’” Suitor said.
“The safe was emptied into his bag then he said he wanted to get the money. I started to give him change but he said, ‘just bills please’ and then he said thank you.”
Suitor said despite everything, the robber was “very polite.”
After the robber had the drugs and cash, he fled on foot.
“I was fine but the other pharmacist was pretty shook up,” Suitor said.
The incident happened six days after a similar robbery occurred in Black Diamond where a male suspect pulled out a knife and asked the staff at Sandul’s Pharmacy to remove a quantity of various narcotic drugs before fleeing on foot.
“The suspect is not believed to be a resident of the hamlet,” said Cpl. Troy Savinkoff.
Police are on the hunt for a Caucasian male, 20 to 35 years of age with a slender build and approximately five-foot-six-inches tall. He was wearing a dark hoody, a light coloured tuque and carrying a backpack.
The incident is still under investigation.
If anyone sees the suspect or has more information about the incident, they are asked to contact the Cochrane RCMP at 403-851-8000 immediately.
