Bragg Creek residents and businesses are coming together to celebrate the community’s past in a heritage festival Sept. 26 and 27.

Organizers are inviting everyone to get a taste of Bragg Creek’s “charming and storied” bygone days.

“This is probably the first year ever that all of the community groups ever worked together on a single project, the way the old time communities used to,” said Marina Cook, chair of the festival and festival director on the Bragg Creek and Area Chamber of Commerce.

She said one of the focuses of the festival is to reconnect young people to the past who are surrounded by electronics.

“We’re hoping to get a lot people to see what it used to be like. I think the school kids these days, with all the electronic technology, really don’t have a clue what the old days were like.”

She said there would be plethora of hands-on displays to provide a truly interactive experience with history.

From noon to 4 p.m. on both days, there will be walking tours of the town, log building, horse wagons, sheep shearing, silent movies, cowboy poets, a special performance on Sunday by the Foothills Concert Band, among other activities.

Tim Hus is set to perform Sept. 26. The dinner and concert will be starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 and available now at the Bragg Creek Community Centre.

Event times and further information is available at braggcreekca.com or by contacting Karen at 403-949-4342.
