RCMP responded to two separate incidents of break, enter and theft in the East End community of Cochrane.
Two vehicles were stolen from residences in Bencroft Place between 11 p.m. on Dec. 1, and 6 a.m. on Dec. 2, according to an RCMP media release. Mounties were called when the residents noticed their vehicles missing the morning of Dec. 2.
Investigation into the matter determined the residences belonging to the owners of the missing trucks were left unlocked, with keys in a visible location, said Cpl. Mel Calahasen of the Cochrane detachment.
The residents were home at the time of the theft, he added.
“If homeowners were careful to lock their doors and be more vigilant, incidents like this could be prevented,” he said.
The missing vehicles are: 2008 Toyota Tundra, silver in colour, bearing Alberta plate 94J771; and a 2012 Dodge quad cab, grey in colour, Alberta licence plate BHB 4252.
As of Dec. 4, RCMP had no suspects in mind, although investigation into the matter continues.
Calahasen reminded Cochranites to notify police immediately if they see suspicious activity.
