Bragg Creek’s Care in the Creek Medical Centre celebrated its first birthday this past October.
And now, with that milestone behind them, the board of Mountain Woods Health Services is looking confidently into the future.
“When we first got into this, I didn’t realize what a wonderful gift the medical centre was to the community here,” said Sharon Bayer, co-chair of Mountain Woods Health Services, the non-profit organization that aims to promote health and wellness in the greater Bragg Creek area.
“It’s gone beyond our expectations and has built confidence with community members.”
Moving forward, Bayer said the centre is focused on continuing to establish itself as a sustainable fixture in the community. She urged residents to consider using the centre’s physicians — Dr. Les Cunning and Dr. Sara Wiesenberg — as family doctors, instead of using the location as a drop-in clinic.
In addition, Bayer said Mountain Woods Health Services is looking to add a third physician to the roster at the medical clinic, as well as offering programs to give patients close-to-home access to specialists.
“We’re continuing to do a lot of fact-finding — what does our community need?” said Bayer, noting that this method spurred the development of the upcoming “Foot Care Friday.”
