It’s last call for residents to participate in the 2014 municipal census.

Enumerators are anticipated to wrap up the door-to-door campaign May 10, with access to the online census closing May 11.

Stacey Loe, manager of Legislative Services at the Town of Cochrane, said the online portion of the census has about 50 per cent participation. Enumerators began knocking on doors April 22.

“At this point we are approximately 80 per cent complete, but definitely want to encourage people to participate,” said Loe. The data obtained through the census will be filed with Alberta Municipal Affairs in order to keep Cochrane’s municipal population up to date, which in turn is used to determine provincial grant funding. Loe said accurate population numbers are key to maximizing grant dollars.

Cochrane’s official population in 2013 was 18,750.
