Get ready for a face off between two rivals — the 11th annual Cochrane Classic Charity Hockey Game is just around the corner.

Slated to run start at 4 p.m. on Feb. 12 at the Spray Lake Sawmills (SLS) Family Sports Centre, the game will see the students of Cochrane High School (CHS) square up against students from Bow Valley High School (BVHS).

The teams will consist of Grade 12 students with varying levels of hockey skills. They’ll face off in the SLS Centre’s Totem arena.

And one hundred per cent of the proceeds raised during the event will benefit the Cochrane Activettes.

“Everyone should be ready to see some rivalry,” said Hailee Lewis, a Grade 11 from CHS. “It’s a lot of fun for everyone to come together for a good cause. And it’s important to give back to the community.”

Last year’s Cochrane Classic raised about $1,100 for the Activettes. This year, the goal is to raise $1,500, said Lewis.

Admission into the classic game is $2. Once inside, there will be plenty of opportunities to support the cause, including a 50/50 draw and a silent auction.

Lewis said a number of local businesses have donated gift cards and items for the silent auction, including Shredz and Panda Flowers.

The students are still on the hunt for items, if any local shops are looking to get involved.
