Cochrane in Brief

Hot off the griddle

Bringing the community together, the Boys and Girls Club of Cochrane and Area is embracing the Stampede tradition, and hosting a free pancake breakfast on Thursday (July 8) from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the 5th Avenue location in Cochrane. The family-friendly event will also feature games and music provided by Safezone Entertainment. The Boys and Girls Club of Cochrane and Area is encouraging everyone planning to attend to bring their own plates and cutlery. Attendees will be entered into a draw to win a gift basket. Participants are asked to observe social distancing protocols while lining up for breakfast.

Bingo at the Legion

Bingo is back at the Cochrane Legion Branch No. 15. On Tuesday (July 6) at 6 p.m. the Legion will begin selling bingo cards to those who attend. The first game will be called at 6:50 p.m. but all attending are encouraged to show up early to set up their tables. The Cochrane Legion is open to the public with both indoor and outdoor seating areas, from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday to Friday, and 12 to 6 p.m. on weekends.

 Summer Book Sale

The Cochrane and Area Humane Society is hosting its biggest book sale ever. With an overwhelming response from the community, the shelter is no longer accepting book donations for the summer sale and is gearing up to host the annual fundraiser. On Saturday (July 3) and Sunday (July 4) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the shelter’s staff will be in the Recreation and Education Centre, just behind the main shelter building, with a full stock of books ready for new homes courtesy of the community. With something for everyone, now is a great time to stock up on summer reads and support the Cochrane and Area Humane Society.
