Represent your culture

Cochrane Immigrant Services Committee is looking for individuals who want to represent their culture at Cochrane Culture Days on Sept. 11 and 12. The organization is looking for performers that want to highlight and showcase their culture during the performance time slots on Sept. 11. There are six to eight spots available and time slots are negotiable. Additionally, on Sept. 12, Cochrane Immigrant Services Committee will be hosting the Amazing Cochrane Culture Quest once again and is looking for one more cultural representatives to host a stop during the scavenger hunt. The Cochrane Immigrant Services Committee will be providing volunteer support and resources to facilitate the various cultural groups. For more information email [email protected]/.

Cochrane GM donates to Big Hill Haven

Cochrane GM donated 1,000 masks to Big Hill Haven on May 10. The masks were given to various branches for donation by GM Canada, leaving Cochrane GM to decide which organization in the community would receive the donation. Big Hill Haven will distribute the masks to the clients they serve and their families. From October to December 2020, Big Hill Haven, Cochrane's only women's shelter, served 22 clients and provided 150 nights of shelter to families in need.

Construction on the 4th Avenue bridge

The Town of Cochrane will be completing geotechnical drilling work on the 4th Avenue bridge on Thursday (May 20) from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. as a part of the design of a replacement bridge. While 4th Avenue will remain open to traffic, the Town of Cochrane has put out an advisory to be aware of construction personnel at the location. Watch for workers, reduce your speed if necessary and obey all signs in the area.
