While the Cochrane RancheHouse remains a popular wedding venue for sweethearts tying the knot in the foothills community, there are a number of other picturesque romantic spots that remain at the top of the wish list.
“The Hall of Vision is the Cochrane RancheHouse’s centrepiece, with its beautiful hardwood floors and the large distinctive river rock fireplace,” said Laurie Drukier, spokesperson for the town, adding that there were 55 weddings held at the RancheHouse in 2014.
“The open-beamed ceilings and the ambience of western grandeur make it a picture-perfect space for an indoor wedding ceremony or reception of 112 guests.”
Drukier said that the Chinook Dining Room could hold up to 200 guests.
The Historic Ranche site boasts the country charm that many come to Cochrane in search of, as does the George MacDougall Church in nearby Morley, Ghost Lake and the natural beauty found in abundance along the Bow River.
According to Hillary Richardson with the Cochrane Tourism Association, who receives regular inquiries from brides choosing Cochrane as their wedding locale, the Links of GlenEagles is another popular choice.
She also received some requests from brides who desired an authentic country experience, following the ‘Prairie Girls Vintage Market’— which was held at the big red barn along Cochrane Lake Road West; for these inquires, Richardson refers brides to local business The Vintage Verandah.
Another natural setting is Glenbow Ranche Provincial Park; Frank Wills Memorial Hall is also an option — located right in town.
The many churches in town are considerations for those in search of a traditional affair.
