Bow Valley College (BVC) will be offering an Early Learning and Childcare Certificate (ELCC) program in Cochrane, beginning this fall.
The eight-month program runs Sept. 2 to April 21, 2015.
Those interested in learning more about the program or who wish to register can contact the BVC Cochrane office at 403-851-2969.
The program will run on Mondays, Thursdays and half-days on Fridays, with opportunity for a local practicum.
Classes will be held at the Cochrane Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) meeting rooms at the HomeStead Building.
Graduates from the program are eligible for the Child Development Worker Certification from Alberta Human Services (formerly referred to as Level 2).
A recent report released by the Let’s Touch the Skies project, which explores women’s economic security in Cochrane, found that the foothills community has a shortage of certified childcare workers.
Cochrane FCSS Manager Susan Flowers said in a recent press release that they are “thrilled” to partner with BVC.
