It may only be February, but Cochrane Tourism is already in full swing for high season, said Hillary Richardson, executive director of the organization.
“There’s no seasonal lull for us anymore,” said Richardson, who recently wrapped up the group’s second annual open house.
This year marks the third for the Hungry for Adventure campaign, which creates custom play-and-stay packages for both day trippers and those planning to stay in the area a while. Richardson said the majority of the organization’s members have returned for the 2014 season, along with some new faces for Cochrane Tourism.
In preparation for high season, the tourism website already boasts an impressive list of local events. Along with the crowd-drawing Cochrane Lions Labour Day Rodeo and the Labour Day Parade, locals and visitors can expect to see the Mountain Shadow Music Festival and Zombie Survivor back on the roster.
June will see a brand-new obstacle race — the Mudd, Sweat and Tears Race. Held nationally, the mud run will see participants crawling, climbing, running and jumping across a course of natural and man-made obstacles.
