COCHRANE— The active number of COVID-19 cases in Cochrane are continuing to decrease.
On Tuesday (Dec. 22) there were a reported 41 active cases of the virus in Cochrane. To date 207 cases have been recorded in the town— 165 people have recovered and one person has died.
Alberta Premier Jason Kenney announced changes to the current public health restrictions that will allow single Albertan’s to attend one holiday event. Households will be able to have up to two single people for an event from Wednesday (Dec. 23) to Monday (Dec. 28).
The holiday gathering for single people will be a one-time exemption. Prohibitions on large social gatherings remain in place.
In Alberta 1,021 COVID-19 cases have been identified in the last 24 hours after the completion of 14,199 tests.
The current positivity rate sits at 7.2 per cent.
Currently, 802 Albertans are hospitalized due to COVID-19, including 152 in intensive care units.
There were a reported 11 additional COVID-related deaths in the province. To date, 871 Albertans have died.
There are 18,311 active cases of COVID-19 in Alberta.
