A Redwood Meadows-based contractor has been ordered to repay nearly $43,000 to former clients for home renovation work that he was hired to do but never completed.
Kieron Warren appeared in Calgary provincial court on Feb. 21 and was placed on probation for three years and ordered to return $42,914 to three victims. He must pay $1,200 per month and has until Dec. 31, 2015 to repay the complete amount.
Warren was previously fined $8,000 by judge Heather Lamoureaux and pleaded guilty in 2012 to Fair Trading Act violations of operating without a contractor’s licence and failing to refund prepayments.
Warren must appear before Lamoureaux every six months to confirm that he is meeting with probation requirements and prove that he is making payments on time.
The violations occurred between 2007 and 2010 when Warren was operating Hillcrest Renovations.
Warren is currently being investigated for possible fraud charges by Service Alberta, which has received complaints from 13 families, who allege he took a combined $400,000 to $500,000 in 2011 and 2012, never completed work and never returned payments while operating Kreate Cabinets.
