The eight-year-old girl who was struck by a semi truck Feb. 25 at a crosswalk in Cremona is doing “pretty good,” said Const. Danielle Morrison of Didsbury RCMP.

“She’s probably doing better than stable at this point, but she remains in the hospital,” Morrison said, having been updated on the girl’s condition the morning of March 5.

The girl was admitted to the Alberta Children’s Hospital after being hit by a Freightliner truck travelling north along Highway 22. According to an RCMP media release, she suddenly stepped out onto the highway. The driver swerved to miss her, but clipped her with the side of the truck.

“There have been no updates in terms of the investigation — it’s ongoing,” said Morrison.

No charges have been laid at this point.
