Culture Days pop-up brings the world to Cochrane

Performances will continue popping up across the province until Oct. 24 when the event is set to end.

Precedence Park was host to a pop-up performance from GlobalFest cultural performers, with sponsor Trico Homes, for Alberta Culture Days on Sept. 25.

Performers represented their diversity through dances or musical acts, often while wearing traditional attire.

There were two set times, at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., where cultures like Brazil, the Philippines, Scotland and more gave viewers a quick glimpse into some of the unique cultures that call Alberta home.

Alberta Culture Days is Alberta’s largest celebration of arts, heritage, diversity and community spirit. Nationally, the Culture Days celebration spans from Sept. 24 to Oct. 24 this year. Last year, more than 500 communities from coast to coast were able to participate, effectively encouraging awareness, participation and engagement of Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities.

In a press release, Alberta Minister of Culture Ron Orr reminded Albertans how important diversity is to drive the province forward.

“Culture is an important economic and social driver in our province. Alberta Culture Days helps us celebrate and appreciate the rich and diverse arts and culture on display in every corner of our province,” he said. “As we come together in healing and reopening post-COVID, I invite all Albertans to take part in as many events as they can. This year’s Alberta Culture Days truly offers something for everyone and should not be missed.”

Culture Days performances will continue popping up across the province until Oct. 24 when the event is set to end.
