According to leaked data showing an alleged list of donors, more than 90 residents from the Cochrane area contributed funds.

Leaked data showing an alleged list of donors to the “Freedom Convoy” revealed more than 90 Cochranites as donors.

Data detailing identifiable information for some 92,845 donors to the Freedom Convoy’s GiveSendGo campaign was leaked on Feb. 13 by non-profit whistleblowing organization Distributed Denial of Secrets (DDoS). According to a statement on DDoS's website, the data has since been removed from DDoS and is only available to researchers and journalists.

The Cochrane Eagle obtained a copy of the donor list and has reached out to DDoS to verify its authenticity but has not yet been able to do so.

According to the alleged list, more than 90 people from the Cochrane area donated to the controversial protest effort, ranging from $5 to $800. Many of those who are alleged to have contributed left comments alongside their information, some of which read:

“Since GoFundMe has sided with the totalitarian Liberal regime I have increased my donation that I previously gave to GoFundMe by 10 times! Please get this money out to the truckers to continue doing the great work they’ve been doing. I’m unable to go there myself so this is what I can do to support them.”

“Sooner or later we all have to stand up for what we beleive [sic] in our hearts to be right!”

As well as:

“I gave to the first fund which was stolen from the truckers at the request of our communist sympathizing prime minister. My second donation is larger than my original donation. I have had enough of that Man-child in Ottawa.”

Still, others asked for more to be done about some of Canada’s social issues, including one that asked for clean water for First Nation’s communities.

“A SUGGESTION ONLY, THE ORGANIZING MANAGEMENT MAY CONSIDER DONATING ANY EXCESS FUNDS TO VETERANS OR PERHAPS PROVIDING CLEAN DRINKING WATER TO THOSE FIRST NATIONS IN CANADA WHO, AT THE LAST TWO ELECTIONS, WERE PROMISED TO RECEIVE CLEAN DRINLING [sic] WATER.”
