Rocky View County (RVC) fire officials continue to look into what sparked a blaze that destroyed a West Bragg Creek home Feb. 22.
“We’re continuing to investigate the structure fire,” remarked Dax Huba, district chief with RVC Fire Services. “At this time, we’re not deeming it suspicious.”
The homeowners were not living in the house. The tenant was visiting a neighbour at the time of the fire.
Fire crews arrived at the acreage, located along Highlands Blvd. just southwest of the hamlet, shortly before 7 p.m. The burning home was reported by a neighbour.
“The building was fully engulfed by the fire when we got there,” said Huba. “All we could do was try to contain it.”
Huba said firefighters fought the blaze for about six hours. Crews revisited the scene the next day to keep an eye on hot spots.
Along with responders from RVC stations in Springbank and Elbow Valley, the flames were battled by crews from Redwood Meadows and the Priddis Fire Department.
Details surrounding the cause of the fire will be released once the investigation is finalized.
