Cochrane RCMP is confident they have identified the culprit responsible for a recent break-in at Cochrane Home Hardware building centre, said Sgt. Audrey Robinson.

Police were alerted to the break-and-enter, which occurred around 3:30 a.m. May 18 by a local taxi driver who called 911.

“RCMP attempted to follow the suspect, but lost track of the vehicle as it headed into Calgary,” said Robinson.

Charges have yet to be filed.

Cochrane RCMP was unable to identify how the suspect gained entry to the building or the approximate value of goods stolen from the space.

The building centre was also the location of an April 21 theft, during which, about $2,500 worth of tools went missing.
