A 47-year-old woman from Stoney Nakoda First Nation is dead following a single vehicle crash that occurred on Highway 1 Feb. 26.
Paula Lightning was driving a pickup truck down the eastbound lane of the Trans-Canada Highway, said Canmore RCMP in a media release, when the truck veered off the road, into the centre median.
It hit the concrete post of the Highway 1X overpass.
“Our investigation is ongoing,” said Cpl. Darleen White of the Canmore detachment. “We’re working to determine any contributing factors to the matter.”
Lightning was the only occupant in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
