Cochrane’s Mount St. Francis Retreat Centre has chosen Susan Campbell has its new director.

Hailing from Edmonton, Campbell began her ministry at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in the city. She then served at Edmonton’s Newman Theological College and later as director of the Diocesan Pastoral Centre for the R.C. Diocese of Prince George, B.C.

Campbell is also a part of “Returning to the Spirit” – a reconciliation process between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginals working to heal the legacy of the residential school system.

Former director friar Kevin Lynch, said that Campbell’s hiring was in line with the message of the order’s founding saints, Francis and Clare of Assisi, calling men and women “to renew the Church which is falling in ruins.”

The centre’s members invite “all friends of the Mount” to welcome Campbell as the new director Sunday, March 29, 2:30 p.m. at 41160 Retreat Rd. with chapel service followed by refreshments. For more information contact 403-932-2012 or email [email protected].
