The Cochrane Music Society (CMS) is presenting their annual CMS Christmas Concert Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the Alliance Church, showcasing what their three ensembles have been working on so far this season.

“Our audience has been growing steadily each season,” said Jane Kaczmer, spokesperson for CMS. “All we ask is that people bring a donation to the Activettes Food Bank.”

The CMS, which was established in 1999, is looking forward to a new chapter this year. Last January saw founder and director, Rob Billington, take a departure from the society, making way for new directors.

Adam Mailman, a former Cochrane High graduate, is now director for the Band on the Bow (33-member concert band) and Riverside Jazz ensemble (18-member big band).

Diego Bechthold is the new director for Choral Waves (32-member choir; soprano, alto, tenor and bass).

“We’re always looking for new members and encouraging people to join all ensembles,” enthused Kaczmer, adding that the Band on the Bow is looking for another French horn player, while the Riverside Jazz band is in search of a new keyboard player.

The ensembles rehearse weekly at Bow Valley High.
