Whether you’re a resident of the Hamlet of Bragg Creek or a visitor to the area, a reliable weather reading is only a few clicks away.
Doug Sephton, owner-operator of braggcreek.ca, installed a new weather station Jan. 8.
The station, Davis Instruments Vantage Pro2, measures temperature, rainfall, humidity, wind direction and speed, among other weather-related information.
Sephton said the website’s weather report is the only weather gauge for the Bragg Creek area.
Typically, he said weather for the area is calculated by triangulating between reports from Calgary, Canmore and Pincher Creek.
“It’s not professional and I’m not a meterologist, but it’s a reliable instrument,’ said Sephton. “It’s a very sophisticated machine — dramatically different from the old one.”
The station is located at Sephton’s home, which is located in West Bragg Creek, about a kilometre from the Kananaskis border.
Weather data is updated on the website every 15 minutes. The data is coupled with webcam image that shows the sky above Moose Mountain. Sephton installed his first weather monitor in 2002 — a Davis Wizard III.
Since then, the weather page on his website has been one of his most visited.
Bragg Creek residents and visitors can check out the weather in the area by visiting braggcreek.ca.
