Smitty’s Restaurant will host a fundraising breakfast March 19, with proceeds to benefit the Cochrane and Area Victim Services Society.

For $1.99 attendees get a breakfast that includes eggs, bacon, sausage and pancakes. The fundraiser will get underway bright and early — at 7 a.m. — and wrap up at 2 p.m.

Members of Cochrane RCMP and volunteers from Cochrane Victim Services will be on hand to answer questions and speak to the services provided by the organization, said Sarah Owen, spokesperson for the group.

Proceeds from breakfast sales will go to support Cochrane and Area Victim Services Society’s extensive volunteer training, which includes online modules, training workshops and monthly sessions.

Owen said she’s hoping the event will raise at least $500 for the organization. The funds will join the estimated $15,500 raised during the Cochrane RCMP Valentine’s Day Regimental Ball Feb. 15.

“The organization is driven by donations and volunteers,” said Owen. “As such, we want to thank any individuals and businesses who support us.”
