A seasonal inquiry led to a surprising donation from a five-year-old Cochrane boy this week.
Mom Jennifer Jackson asked her son Liam what he wanted for Christmas and could have never guessed what his answer would be.
"He was silent for a couple minutes and then he replied that what he wanted was to give lots of other people the same yummy breakfast that he was eating," Jackson said.
Warm and gooey chocolate-chip pancakes.
"This warmed my heart so much," mom said.
Jackson said Liam, and his two-year-old twin sisters, Paige and Quinn, joined her on a grocery run to make his Christmas wish come true.
"We purchased 20 boxes of pancake mix, 20 bottles of syrup, 20 bags of chocolate chips and 20 boxes of orange juice," she said.
Once at home, the little workers put together 20 'Christmas Pancake Breakfast Donations' kits, complete with a sticker including a photo of the three.
The family loaded up their toboggans with the completed kits to drop off at the Helping Hands Free Food Shed on Wednesday, Dec. 22.
"Kids truly pick up on everything that is said at home," Jackson said. "We talk a lot about helping people through donations and volunteering so it's a wonderful feeling when you start to see your children's mindset wanting to be kind and part of the solution."
