Cochrane Mounties are continuing to investigate a car crash that claimed the life of a Calgary man.

Members of the Cochrane detachment arrived at the collision scene at about 3 a.m., March 28. The sole vehicle involved, a Chevrolet Aveo, was located down an embankment just east of the junction of Highway 567 and Range Round 34 — near Big Hill Springs Provincial Park.

The body of a 43-year-old Calgary man was located near the vehicle, remarked Cpl. Troy Savinkoff.

“We’re currently investigating the cause of the collision, as well as what caused the man’s death,” said Savinkoff.

Foul play is not suspected at this time, he added.

The investigation into the matter is a team effort between members of the Cochrane detachment, a RCMP collision reconstructivist, as well as the forensic identification and Cochrane general investigation sections.
