The owner of a local bike shop is reeling from what he believes to have been a targeted break-in and theft incident. Graham Pye, who started Bike Bros 15 years ago, discovered a rare bike called the Knolly Fugitive was missing from his shop after it was broken into around 2 a.m. this morning. The bike was released only a month ago and Bike Bros is the sole Knolly retailer in the area. Pye believes this is the only model of its kind in Southern Alberta. The bike is priced at over $8,000. "There was one prominently displayed bike, not even right by the window," Pye said. He thinks the thief(s) must have visited the store previously to know which bike to take. "I think they knew it was there," he said. "If you had broken in without scoping the place while we're open you would have had to go past five or six other bikes that would have been worth $5,000 to $6000. Cochrane RCMP are currently investigating. If anyone has seen the bike or has any tips relating to the break in, they are asked to contact Bike Bros at (403) 932-7010 or [email protected]. Tips can also be given to Cochrane RCMP at (403) 932-8000.
