Sweeper trucks will take to Cochrane's residential streets for their annual spring cleaning beginning April 25.
The Town roads department asks residents to cooperate with the schedule which will see trucks visit each subdivision for a single day of cleaning, outside of the areas waste and recycling or organics collection day.
“After many years of annual street sweeping, we have heard that a single day of sweeping for each subdivision is easier on Cochrane residents,” roads manager Wally Hume said. “You will only need to move your vehicle for one day, and our roads will be clean and safe for summer.”
Resident must move their vehicles from streets on their neighbourhood's designated sweeping day to allow for effective cleaning of roads from curb to curb.
Community peace officers will assist the roads department to ensure vehicles are moved, and after all steps have been taken to remind residents, vehicles left on the road will be subject to ticketing.
Cleaning is expected to last 11 days, ending May 9, and notification signs will be placed in each neighbourhood at least 48 hours in advance of scheduled sweeping.
No parking signs will be put up 24 hours prior to cleaning which will commence at 8 a.m. The Town suggests parking vehicles on driveways or parking pads or, in alleys for those without access to other off-street parking.
Curb ramps and basketball nets should also be moved from streets.
Crews have already started pre-sweeps across town to help reduce the amount of material to pick up during this year's road clean-up. Street sweeping downtown and on main roads is done primarily in the late evenings to avoid traffic.
The full cleaning schedule will be posted on cochrane.ca/streetsweeping and the schedule will be confirmed daily on the Town's Facebook page.
