The annual Springbank Christmas market features more than 50 vendors this year, and organizers say there is a good number from Cochrane attending.

“It’s a great thing, we like to help everybody and get everybody going – we try not to duplicate so there is as much variety as possible, for the customers and the vendors,” said Yvonne Bamlett, market co-ordinator.

All the vendors for this year’s market are listed on the annual event’s Facebook page, showcasing a variety of arts and crafts; such as stone carvings, pottery, Saskatoon pies, framed photos, doll clothing, photos, and snowman-decorating kits – to name a few.

“Even though we say it’s local vendors, we consider Cochrane local,” Bamlett said. “Last year was really good – we had lots of traffic and the people that came actually came to buy.”

The annual event does not charge admission or parking, which Bamlett said is key for economically challenging times like these. There will also be a group of female acapella singers, the Sweet Adelines, performing throughout the weekend.

“People can spend their money on the product, I think that helps – (and) if you’ve never seen the Sweet Adelines, they dress up in Santa capes and hats and they do a really great job for us,” Bamlett said. “We are really excited and we hope that people will come out and see what is new.”

The annual Springbank Christmas Market goes Nov. 7-8 at Springbank Community High School, 32226 Springbank Road. Market hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on the Saturday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on the Sunday.
