Still room for vendors at mom to mom sale

The annual Fall Mom to Mom Sale, hosted by the Cochrane Lioness Club is still seeking vendors for its consignment-style event and organizers are hopeful a few people can loan clothes racks or donate 16-gauge metal to build racks for the event.

The annual Fall Mom to Mom Sale, hosted by the Cochrane Lioness Club is still seeking vendors for its consignment-style event and organizers are hopeful a few people can loan clothes racks or donate 16-gauge metal to build racks for the event.

The gently used children’s and maternity clothes, gear and toy consignment sale, which takes place at the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre gymnasium Oct. 1 will see continually stocked shelves for extended hours – from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“All of the money raised goes back into the community,” explained Lioness director, Crystal Bohn, adding that this new consignment structure – rather than individual sellers renting tables – paves the way for late seller entries and will prove a better way to accommodate so many vendors in one space.

“We changed the format around to make it a pop-up consignment sale, where items are organized by gender and size,” she said, adding that the volunteer group hopes this will make it a “better experience for the shoppers and a good way to motivate vendors to sell their best stuff.”

This year proceeds will go to Cochrane Family and Community Support Services.

The Lionesses took over the event in 2014. The group is comprised of 19 volunteers who commit their time to such events as the Lions Rodeo (September); the Lioness Christmas Market (November); the Festival of Trees (December); and any other charitable endeavour they are requested to contribute to and are able.

Anyone still interested in selling gently-used items should email the group at [email protected].

The consignment structure is on a sliding scale of 28 per cent down to 10 per cent, dependant on whether the seller wishes to drop off items or stay throughout the day to volunteer with the event.
