Cochrane RCMP is investigating following a series of home invasions on the Stoney Nakoda First Nation.

The three break-ins occurred between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., Feb. 24, according to Cpl. Mel Calahasen of the local detachment.

All three of the invasions reported masked men forcing their way into the homes. One of the incidents involved the discharge of a firearm.

Calahasen said three culprits were observed at two of the invasions, while the other break-in reported four masked invaders.

“At this point, we’re following up on leads and working to determine the number of individuals involved,” said Calahasen. “There are people of interest that we’re looking into.”

He added that police believe the individuals entered the homes in search of money.

Investigation into the trio of invasions is ongoing. Calahasen said police have no suspects in mind at this point.

Anyone with information regarding these crimes is asked to contact Cochrane RCMP at 403-851-8000. To leave an anonymous tip, call Crime Stoppers by dialing 1-800-222-8477.
