The 17-year-old accused of shooting a German tourist in August pleaded not guilty Tuesday. The teen, who can't be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, spent nearly three months at the Calgary Remand Centre but was granted bail in November. The boy had been in custody since he was arrested on Aug. 24. The youth suspect is facing 14 charges including attempted murder. Balfour Der is the boy’s confirmed legal counsel. Victim Horst Stewin, a German tourist who was visiting Canada, was shot in the head Aug. 2 while driving on Highway 1A near Morley. He has since returned to Germany where the bullet was removed from his brain. The bullet has been sent to Canadian authorities for ballistics testing.
