The Texas Gate Bar & Grill will be hosting a weekly Battle of the Bands starting May 15.
Local bands will be competing for a spot to open for country artist Jake Matthews at the Old Fashioned Cochrane Barn Dance on June 25.
Hosted by Todd Simmer with Boots for Roots, the barn dance will take place at the Cochrane old arena with the dance starting at 8:00 p.m. Among other things, the event will also feature a kids’ zone earlier in the day, a lunch, a concession, and a dinner.
The first bands to go head to head at the Gate will be Double “D” and the Booty Jam and Steel Hawk. For details about show times or if other bands would like to sign up to compete call 403-807-2761.
Following the weekly performances, the Cochrane Eagle editorial staff will be providing reviews of each band as well as predictions of who will move forward in the competition.
