Mother and son found dead in Morley
Cochrane RCMP continue to investigate the deaths of 27-year-old Michael Snow and his 44-year-old mother, Candace Kimberley Fox, of Morley.
The Stoney Nation members were found dead within several hours of one another on July 29, both believed by investigators to have overdosed on drugs and alcohol.
RCMP and paramedics were dispatched to a rural area near Morley at 3:30 a.m. on July 29, responding to a report of a man in medical distress.
Although life-saving efforts were administered, the man was pronounced deceased, believed to have ingested street and non-prescription drugs, as well as alcohol during the evening that led up to his death.
The same day, around 8:30 p.m., a woman was reported to be in medical distress and unresponsive. Family members administered CPR while waiting for Cochrane RCMP and EMS, but Fox was pronounced deceased an hour later.
Investigators believe the woman may have overdosed on non-prescription pills because pills were found on scene.
Cochrane RCMP did not release the names of the deceased to the Eagle.
The Eagle has also been advised that the Stoney community is mourning Fox’s death as a suicide, a reaction to learning of Snow’s untimely passing.
A joint funeral was held at the Morley Gymnasium on Aug. 4 for the mother and her son.
