Golden Life has now broken ground at their Grand Avenue Village site, located at the former Burnwest lands behind the Nan Boothby Library, the five-storey, 87-unit independent living seniors complex will soon begin to take shape.
The project is targeted for a summer 2017 completion, with 50 per cent capacity already booked.
With studio, one- and two-bedroom suites available, the fully staffed facility is a worry-free all-inclusive that encourages independent living as much as possible (each unit includes its own kitchen); visit goldenlifemanagement.ca for more info.
The town is currently working on purchasing a piece of the land from Golden Life (one acre lot east of the library, south of Railway) to include in the Integrated Downtown Action Plan.
According to Suzanne Gaida, senior manager of community services for the town, this space will be used to “create an at-grade pedestrian railway crossing” to connect the downtown with the Quarry area for pedestrians, encourage walkability and connectivity.
The town is also working with CP Rail to design the crossing.
