Water Valley Days are back again with events that people in the community and surrounding area have come to love each year.
The events take place on Aug. 9 and Aug. 10. Organizer Al Andrews said that last year he was able to fit in so many fun activities in the two days that he has done the same this year.
“It is a small town with a fun-time spirit,” said Andrews. “It’s beautiful here with the camping and the scenery.”
Andrews said that both days are centered around a baseball tournament where any team can sign up. He estimated around 12 to 16 teams will be participating.
Saturday (Aug. 9) kicks off with a pancake breakfast at 8 a.m. and a parade that will be starting at 10 a.m.
During the day there will be shooting skills put on by Guns of the Golden West, horseshoes and bocce ball, a chili bake off and a cribbage tournament.
There will also be an old-time swing band playing during the afternoon and at 5 p.m. there will be a roast beef dinner. During the evening there will be beer gardens and live entertainment at the Water Valley Stage.
On Sunday (Aug. 10) there will be another pancake breakfast and more of the same fun during the day. The big event on this day will be the lawn mower tractor races, where people dress up their lawn mower tractors and race them against each other. Andrews said this has become a favourite event for people who attend Water Valley Days.
The only change this year will be the addition of the How Great Thou Art Market held Aug. 9 at the Water Valley Church Events Centre. Andrews said he is excited about the addition and that Water Valley has a large artist community that is getting bigger and better all the time.
