Cochrane RCMP are still investigating an incident that took place June 22, leaving a 29-year-old woman from Morley, Alta. in serious, but stable condition.

At around 5:30 a.m., local RCMP responded to a train collision with the woman, who was reported to be lying on the train tracks in nearby Morley.

The train crew, upon observing the woman lying on the tracks, tried to stop but were unable to do so in time; the train was estimated to be travelling 30 km/hr at the time of the collision.

Corp. Mel Calahasen with the Cochrane RCMP said that alcohol was a factor and that they are continuing their investigation, as it’s believed that another person was present at the time of the collision.

The woman was transported to Foothills Hospital in Calgary by STARS Air Ambulance and is reported to be in ‘stable condition’.

Two people were killed on Hwy 22 just north of Cremona June 22 when a southbound minivan collided with a motorhome.

Didsbury RCMP continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
