Women pleads guilty in death of Morley mother

A woman has admitted to causing an accident that took the life of a 40-year-old mother of five, Iliena Wildman, from the Morley reserve.

A guilty plea was entered to charges in the death of a Morley mother of five, who was struck and killed by a vehicle Jan. 3, 2020. 

Iliena Wildman was killed while in Morley, west of Cochrane, and a then 19-year-old woman surrendered herself to police following the incident. 

Wildman was an artist and a back-up singer for a traditional drum group.  

Wildman’s brother Daniel described her as a “kind, loving person” in an interview following her death.  

Sarah Beaver pled guilty to charges of being in an accident resulting in death last week in Calgary’s Court of Queen’s Bench. Charges of dangerous driving causing death and possession of stolen property under $5,000 death were withdrawn.

Beaver will be sentenced in Calgary on Jan. 25.
