Bobcats unbeaten in three

Be afraid. Be very afraid. At the start of the Rocky View Sports Association soccer season, it was anyone’s guess who the team to beat would be, but the Bow Valley High School Bobcats are making a case as frontrunners.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

At the start of the Rocky View Sports Association soccer season, it was anyone’s guess who the team to beat would be, but the Bow Valley High School Bobcats are making a case as frontrunners.

The boys are unbeaten in three straight games, and in their current form, it’s going to be a tough ask for any team to put them to bed.

The Bobcats opened their Rocky View Sports Association (RVSA) season with a 3-2 win over Bert Church, but things have really kicked off as of late, with two crushing home wins against WH Croxford (11-1 on May 5), and George McDougall (6-3 on May 10).

“We’re doing well,” said Bobcats head coach Jez Rodgers. “The boys want to play, and are keen to play. It’s good to see.

They’re enjoying themselves. You always enjoy yourself when you’re winning.”

The team’s counterattacking style, has been played to perfection so far this season with lightning quick forwards Liam Baker and Max Perron having a field day against opposing centrebacks, combining for 12 goals (Baker with eight, Perron with four) in the last two games.

Despite the team’s offensive firepower, their coach is adamant that the reason his side is top of the league is because all of his players have pulled their weight this year.

“We’ve got guys who’ve played at different levels, but you need workers as well,” Rodgers said. “You can have all the Cristiano Ronaldos, but you also need the worker bees in my mind.

“We always build a team from the back forward.”

The Bobcats next play Chestermere High School Lakers on May 12 in Chestermere.
