The Cochrane Chaos started their preseason campaign on a high note with a pair of wins over the Calgary Titans and the Lethbridge Eagles on Sept. 16 and 17.
The Chaos defeated the Titans 6-3, while shutting out Lethbridge the following day 5-0. Head Coach Derek Loomer was happy with the results from the exhibition matchups.
“I was very pleased with our (competition) level and our chemistry for games this early in the season,” Loomer said.
“I was also very pleased with the depth of players this year as everyone showed they are capable of playing in the league and made the decisions trimming down our season roster very difficult.”
The Chaos have four players from Cochrane – Kyla Kruger who played for Cochrane last season, Jenna Wasylik who previously played for the Titans as well as Summer Gibbons and Brette Matheson. There are 10 returning players on this year’s squad, with new recruits from Midget AAA and AA teams, and two players who played university and college hockey last year.
“I expect our team to be very competitive in the league this year and hopefully finish ahead of where we did last season – our first in the league,” Loomer said.
The Chaos made it to the division finals in their inaugural season.
“The coaching staff is really looking forward to working with all the potential that make up the Chaos this season and, more importantly, I believe the players are really excited about this year.”
The Chaos will open up their second season on Sept. 29 against the Calgary Warriors at Spray Lake Sawmills Sports Centre Totem 1 Arena.
