Bow Valley’s basketball team bowed down to the Cochrane Cobras Tuesday at the senior boys’ debut game of the year.

The town’s two high schools met at Bow Valley’s gymnasium in Riversong, and the play leaned heavily in Cochrane High’s favour. The final score at the end of four quarters came up 90-26.

Coach Patrick Court said the Cobras took part in a tournament last weekend, giving players an opportunity to look at their technique and make necessary adjustments before this week’s opener.

“We found out we had holes,” said Court.

Bow Valley coach Cord Lethebe said his team has four players new to the sport, which can pose a challenge.

“The hustle was there … we struggled with ball movement and just making the right plays,” said Lethebe, adding he tries to keep newer ballers focused on the fundamentals of the game, rather than on the score, at this stage of the season.

“I try to just emphasize learning,” he said, “Just how to think the game of basketball.”

This week also sees the junior and senior girls start their journey through the season, as well as the junior boys.
