Cochrane hockey player to up his game in NCAA

Cochrane prospect Adam Tisdale is one step closer to the NHL after committing to Clarkson University in New York state this week. Tisdale grew up in Cochrane and played with the AC Avalanche and Airdrie Xtreme.

Cochrane prospect Adam Tisdale is one step closer to the NHL after committing to Clarkson University in New York state this week.

Tisdale grew up in Cochrane and played with the AC Avalanche and Airdrie Xtreme.

The 5-foot-10, 170-pound forward spent the last two years with the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Canmore Eagles, where he earned 51 points over 59 games last season. He announced his commitment to Clarkson on Tuesday.

The Clarkson University Golden Knights are an established National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division 1 team with a long history of winning seasons and players who have gone on to play professional hockey.

Golden Knights players who have moved up to the big show include former Winnipeg Jets defenseman and All-American Grant Clitsome, unrestricted free agents Erik Cole and Willie Mitchell, former Calgary Flames right winger and current assistant general manager of the team, Craig Conroy, and defenseman Mark Borowiecki, who currently plays with the Ottawa Senators.
