The season hasn’t ended and Cochrane Soccer Club has already topped the table.

Cochrane won the Calgary Women’s Soccer Association (CWSA) Over-40 Tier 3 Division with a 4-0 win over visiting Pretenders II on Sept. 7 at Spray Lake Sawmills Legacy Field.

At 11-1, with two matches remaining, Cochrane cannot be caught for top spot in its division.

“We’re pleased,” said CSC president and head coach Dom Hickey. “We set ourselves a challenge of actually only losing two or maybe three games all season and definitely winning the league. We’ve won the league, we’ve only lost one game with a couple to go, so we’re on target.”

In their defining game against third-place Pretenders II (8-4), Michele Fossum, Angela Haffenden, Yvette Koop and Alana Staples scored Cochrane’s goals.

’Keeper Karen Kleebaum netted the shutout.

Upon completion of the CWSA outdoor season, Cochrane Soccer Club women get a week off before beginning the winter indoor season.
