Fighting under the Aggression Fighting Championship (AFC) banner, Cochrane’s Trent “Slaughter” House took less than two full rounds to defeat Medicine Hat’s Mitch Carlson in an amateur bout at AFC 12: Domination, Nov. 2 in a dimly-lit hall at Calgary’s Telus Convention Centre.
House, who fights out of the Champions Creed gym in Calgary, was methodical, efficient and relentless throughout the well-attended mixed martial arts contest, trading blows with Carlson as well as engaging him on the ground and coming out on top.
The referee stopped the fight at 2:35 in the second round of the scheduled three-round contest.
The telling blows, hard kicks to the inside of Carlson’s legs just above the knee, stopped the Medicine Hat fighter in his tracks before House finished it with a flurry of strikes.
House, the taller of the two fighters at 5-foot-11, weighed in at 154.5 pounds, while Carlson checked in at 155. House is now 3-0 in amateur mixed martial arts events.
