Cochrane’s Dillon Dube is making an impression at this year’s IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.
Dube came out strong on Team Canada’s first day of play, logging an assist on Tyson Jost’s goal just three minutes into the first period of the opening game against Russia on Boxing Day. The 185-pound forward and the rest of the Canadian juniors went on to beat the Russians 5-3.
In Tuesday night’s game against Slovakia, Dube logged another assist, shared with Anthony Cirelli, three minutes into the third period on Michael McLeod’s goal. It was the fifth and final goal for Canada in the shut-out against the eastern Europeans team. The wins put Canada in first place in Group B of the tournament.
Dube and his teammates took Wednesday off and return to the ice tonight for their third match-up against Latvia. All game action is being televised live on TSN.
