Cochranite Jake Dubé was named the 2016 recipient of the Stewy Stewart Memorial Award on Mar. 6.
The award is given out annually to the player in the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s (AJHL) South Division that best exemplifies character, dedication, integrity, perseverance, and sportsmanship.
The 19-year old who is in his first year with the Camrose Kodiaks has set career highs in goals (ten), assists (25), total points (35), games played (54), and event penalty minutes (59).
Dubé has played a lead role in the success the Kodiaks have had this season, as they have romped their way to a regular-season record of 38-18-4, putting the team second in the AJHL South Division.
The defenceman has managed to bring his regular-season form into the playoffs, picking up 2 assists in three first-round games played against the seventh-seeded Olds Grizzlies.
Kodiaks took the regular-season series 5-1, outscoring Grizzlies 32-16, and swept them in the playoffs 3-0, outscoring them 17-5.
